Writing a blog has been a lot more challenging than I
originally thought. Obviously on a trip like this, the travel and adventure
trumps sitting at the PC and blogging.. Our pace of travel has been fast to
burn through to Uluru then Kings Canyon and into Alice for a few days (via the
West Mc Donald ranges)
It took us 9 ½ hours to drive from Coober Pedy to a campsite
just out of Curtin Springs. We took of early from Coober Pedy and stopped for breakfast at a spot off the highway as we feel it is good to get started and
then grab breaky “on the road”
Dad has been great to help us get set for this trip and has spent endless hours with me tricking up the ute, which has been hugely appreciated. I have a 44L slimline diesel tank in my tub and also carry a 20L jerry can so basically have double the capacity of the standard ute tank. It’s a little basic setup but Dave Barker had the great suggestion of syphoning the fuel to keep it basic thus less can go wrong. It only takes about 10 minutes to do the top up and it is a good opportunity to refresh before continuing on the drive.
We left South Australia behind and stopped at the NT
boarder. It was fun watching the kids jump from SA to NT in unison saying
“South Australia.. Northern Territory” on repeat… They are great travel
companions, keeping the trip interesting and allowing me to try out my full
extent of Dad jokes. .
The trip was long but arriving at the beautiful country at
the campsite was rewarding. We set up camp and then took a walk up the hill to
explore the native flora and watch an amazing sunset.
We could see Mt Conner in the distance.
